Yeah, this sums it up

Jack Caferty from CNN:

He will leave office with the country $10 trillion in debt, fighting two wars, our international reputation in shambles, our government cloaked in secrecy and suspicion that his entire presidency has been a litany of broken laws and promises, our citizens’ faith in our own country ripped to shreds. Yet Bush goes bumbling along, grinning and spewing moronic one-liners, as though nobody understands what a colossal failure he has been.

The Onion Calls It

The Onion is funny because it is so ridiculous and contrived. I guess that’s not always the case though. From 2001: ‘Our Long National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity Is Finally Over’.

$3 Bill Y’All

This is the scariest thing I have seen in a long time. It looks like Fred Durst has been shacking up with Billy Bob Thornton. 12:30 into the interview Fred totally forgets that he has just showed Tom Green his tattoo. What?!?

2008 The Year of the House

Posted by jane on June 03, 2008

We have been very busy so far this year with home renovations. In February we had the bathroom remodeled. A week later we had the downstairs windows replaced. In April we had the house painted and front steps replaced. Check out the pictures of our latest endeavor. Blowing our savings has never been so much fun!

My Thoughts Exactly

Who will tell the people? We are not who we think we are. We are living on borrowed time and borrowed dimes. We still have all the potential for greatness, but only if we get back to work on our country.

More on Obama

You may know who Marc Andreessen is. He recently wrote a blog entry about Barack Obama explaining a conversation that he was able to have with him prior to the start of his campaign. It’s a pretty interesting perspective, especially if you’re wondering what the guy is really like.

Money and the Election

Posted by mike on February 21, 2008

I just came across this interesting piece of info. From the NY Times Politics Blog:

Only 10 percent of Clinton contributors did not donate the legal maximum $2,300 for her primary campaign. In contrast, only three percent of Obama donors gave the maximum. The rest of the cash came from small sums from many more people.

Check out Obama’s website, he has nearly one million donors to date.

To me there’s two interesting things about this:

  1. When you hear someone say that Obama won a state because he outspent Clinton, keep in mind how he got the money.
  2. The internet has changed the way elections work. It has allowed anyone to easily donate to the campaign they support. It keeps people up to date on what is happening. It decentralizes the control of information. It gets people, including young people, interested again.

The Bathroom

Posted by mike on February 07, 2008

Over the last 8 days Jane and I have been going through the exciting process of a bathroom remodeling. I’ve posted some pictures of the festivities. Our old bathroom had a vinyl floor that was pieced together from the remains of the vinyl floor that was installed in the kitchen by previous owners. It involved a lot of caulk to hole it together where it met the walls a was peeling up in places. The floor was also beginning to sag and the old pipes were starting to cause problems. Our tub was a unmaintainable mess as well.

That’s all changed now! Our contractor tore out the old floor and sub floor and installed a new, level, sub floor in preparation for new tile. The tub surround got removed and replaced with subway tile and we got a nice new tub. At this point things are looking really good.

We still have to paint the room. Once that is done we can install the new cabinets and pedestal sink and things should be close to done.

Here’s a video of Barack Obama’s visit to Google. He talks about his Innovation Agenda as well as other plans for his potential presidency. He then fields questions from the audience.
